Nibertex secures $7M series A to power the future of PFAS-free textiles

Nibertex, a trailblazing deep-tech manufacturer of PFAS-free waterproof and breathable textile membranes, has closed a US$7 million Series A funding round led by Southeast Asian venture capital powerhouse TNB Aura. The round also saw strong participation from existing backers Asian Development Bank (ADB), Faircrest Holding, and Foxmont Capital Partners.

PFAS—short for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances—are widely used to make rain jackets, activewear, medical gowns, food packaging, and non-stick cookware water- and stain-resistant. But their durability is also their danger: PFAS chemicals linger in the environment for decades and have been linked to serious health risks.

As governments in the US, EU, and Asia-Pacific roll out bans, the race is on for high-performance, non-toxic alternatives. Nibertex has stepped up with a proprietary electrospinning (or “nanospinning”) technology that creates PFAS-free membranes without sacrificing performance. The result: materials that are waterproof, breathable, soft, and ready for demanding applications.

“PFAS-free performance materials are no longer a luxury—they’re becoming a necessity,” said Richard Beck, PhD, Nibertex’s Chief Strategy Officer and former senior executive at W. L. Gore & Associates (maker of GORE-TEX). “We’re leveraging decades of technical and commercial expertise to help manufacturers transition smoothly to sustainable solutions.”

TNB Aura’s Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Vicknesh Pillay, is equally bullish. “Nibertex is tackling a global challenge head-on. Their competitive pricing, strong early traction, and world-class production capabilities in the Philippines give them an edge against established global players. This is our first major investment in the Philippines, and we’re confident in their global potential.”

Fueling global expansion
Founded in 2019, Nibertex has engineered a proprietary process to produce ultra-soft, silent, and stretchable membranes that blend seamlessly into textiles—perfect for performance wear, healthcare gear, industrial uses, and consumer goods.

With this funding, the company will:

  • Boost Production Capacity – Invest in new facilities to meet skyrocketing demand.
  • Accelerate R&D – Explore advanced applications beyond apparel.
  • Expand Global Reach – Forge strategic partnerships with leading international brands.

“This milestone marks the beginning of a major growth phase,” said Jae H. Park, Co-Founder and COO of Nibertex. “Our nanospinning technology positions us to deliver exactly what the industry needs: high-performance materials without the environmental cost.”

Rising to lead the sustainable textile revolution
As PFAS regulations tighten worldwide, the textile industry is undergoing a seismic shift. Manufacturers are urgently seeking safe, high-performing alternatives—and Nibertex is well-placed to lead the charge. Its breakthrough technology not only eliminates harmful chemicals but also meets the rigorous demands that once made PFAS indispensable.

From outdoor gear to surgical gowns, the future of sustainable performance textiles is here—and it’s being spun in the Philippines.
