Charge+ and Grab Vietnam have signed a partnership to develop an electric vehicle charging and battery swapping network in Vietnam. The collaboration targets electric cars, motorcycles and e-scooters, supporting Grab drivers and wider EV adoption in line with Vietnam’s net-zero ambitions.

The two companies say the collaboration supports Vietnam’s green mobility transition and aligns with national net-zero targets. By combining Grab’s platform, data capabilities and local market reach with Charge+’s experience in deploying charging infrastructure across the region, the partners intend to address current gaps in EV charging availability.

Under the agreement, Grab and Charge+ will work on both technical and operational integration. Grab will support infrastructure development and application programming interface integration to connect Charge+’s charging and battery swapping network with the Grab platform. This will allow charging location information, transactions and real-time data to be accessed directly by Grab driver-partners during daily operations.

The partners also plan to jointly identify and deploy charging points at locations with the highest demand. By leveraging Grab’s operational data and understanding of travel patterns, the rollout is intended to ensure that charging and battery swapping services are accessible and aligned with the needs of ride-hailing drivers and other EV users.

Moreover, the agreement includes preferential charging policies for Grab driver-partners. According to Grab, this reflects the specific operational needs of ride-hailing drivers, who typically require dense charging coverage and fast charging to maximise vehicle utilisation.

“Grab fully supports Vietnam’s green transition directives and is continuously stepping up collaboration with relevant partners to address the challenges of this transition,” said Ma Tuan Trong, CEO of Grab Vietnam. “We are delighted to further expand our partner portfolio in the EV ecosystem through this agreement with Charge+.”

Charge+ has also outlined longer-term ambitions for the Vietnamese market as part of the partnership. Goh Chee Kiong, CEO of Charge+, said that Charge+ is committed to rolling out ‘an extensive charging network in Vietnam to reach 5,000 charging points by 2030.’
